Hey Readers — The Amazon Kindle is on sale!

I use my Kindle every single day, often multiple times.  I’d be lost without it.  It is rarely on sale.  If you’ve been considering it, now is the time.

This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may make a small commission if you purchase something through the link.  You don't pay a cent more than you would otherwise.

Amazon Black Friday deals

Black Friday used to be one day, the day after Thanksgiving. Now it lasts for several days, even a week for some vendors.  Amazon’s Black Friday deals are live now, and will last through this Friday, November 29.

Amazon Kindle:  One of my favorite things EVER

We are a 4-kindle family; every one of us owns one.  My husband has owned about 7 of them, because he tends to leave them on airplanes.

I’m lost without my kindle.  I carry it in my purse.  I love the Kindle Paperwhite, which has an adjustable white background (like paper), making it easier for these older eyes to see the print.

Why do I love my Kindle?

  • The glare-free screen can be read in bright sunlight, like a book.  Have you ever tried reading an iPad at the beach?  You can’t see it.
  • It also has an adjustable backlight, so you can read it in dark places as well.
  • You can adjust the size of the font.  As a gal who can’t see any small print these days, this is a life-saver.
  • It can hold a lot of books — approximately 6000.  Imagine going on vacation and having multiple books at your fingertips, without carrying bulky and heavy books.
  • A single battery charge lasts weeks.  Really.  Especially if you put it on airplane mode when you’re not using wifi.
  • You have access to a gazillion books through Amazon.
  • No one has to know what you’re reading.  Do you ever just want to read something kind of frivolous, but don’t want your highfalutin literary friends to know that sometimes you read romance novels, or westerns, or (ahem — you know who you are) The Highlander series?  Read what you want, with anonymity.

The newer Kindle is even waterproof.  (Mine is several years old, and I don’t think it is safe around water.). Imagine sitting on the edge of the pool, lost in a great summer book.

Ready to jump into a Kindle?  You might want to snag a cover for it.

I have this exact leather cover.  It fits perfectly, snaps shut magnetically, and automatically shuts the Kindle on and offer when opening or closing.  You can save some additional cash if you bundle the Paperwhite, the cover and an adaptor.

Now send me your favorite book recommendations!
